Lakshman Prasad Acharya Takes Oath as Governor of Manipur
Northeast Desk, 31st July: Lakshman Prasad Acharya was sworn in as the Governor of Manipur on July 31 in a ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan, Imphal. The oath of office was administered by Justice Siddharth Mridul, Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
Acharya’s arrival in Imphal on July 30 was met with a warm reception. Among those welcoming him were Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th. Satyabrata Singh, various ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh, and other senior officials at the Raj Bhavan.
In addition to his role as Governor of Manipur, Acharya has also been appointed as the Governor of Assam. He took the oath for the Assam governorship on July 30 in Guwahati. The ceremony, held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, was overseen by Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi of the Gauhati High Court and attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, cabinet ministers, and other dignitaries.
Acharya’s dual appointments underscore the significance of his role in bridging the administrative functions of both Assam and Manipur, furthering collaboration and governance in the northeastern states.
