Landslide Claims Five Lives in Assam’s Badarpur Amid Heavy Rains

Guwahati, 19th June: In a tragic incident, a landslide triggered by heavy rains claimed the lives of five members of the same family in Badarpur’s Bendargol area, Assam. The disaster struck late at night on June 18 in Tajurtal village while the victims were asleep at home.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) promptly arrived at the scene, launching rescue operations. By midnight, the bodies of four victims had been recovered, with efforts ongoing to rescue the fifth individual.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Karim, his wife Raimunesa (55), their daughters Saheda Khanam (18), Zaheda Khanam (16), Hamida Khanam (11), and their grandson Mehdi Hasan (3).

Rescue operations are continuing as authorities work to ensure the safety and recovery of all affected by this devastating natural calamity.
