Landslides Block NH10 in Sikkim, Commuters Advised Alternative Route via Odlabari – Siliguri

Northeast Desk, 2nd July: Following persistent rainfall and subsequent landslides in Sikkim, National Highway 10 (NH10) near Bagpul has been completely blocked, significantly impacting traffic flow at the Coronation Bridge. Authorities have advised commuters to opt for an alternative route via Odlabari – Siliguri to facilitate convenient travel.

The obstruction on NH10 prompted authorities to recommend the following alternative route: Odlabari > Teesta Barrage Gajaldoba > Farabari > Asigarh (Eastern Bypass Rd) > Siliguri. This diversion aims to minimize travel delays and ensure a safe journey to Siliguri until NH10 is cleared.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre in Gangtok issued a weather forecast for Sikkim, predicting heavy to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next seven days. Certain areas may experience very heavy rainfall, prompting caution among residents and travelers alike.
