Large Consignment of Cannabis Seized from Train at Guwahati Railway Station

Guwahati, 1st August: The relentless war against drugs has led to a significant breakthrough as authorities seized a substantial consignment of cannabis from a train at Guwahati Railway Station on Tuesday afternoon.

Government Railway Police (GRP) sources reported that a targeted raid at the railway station resulted in the discovery of 21 kilograms of cannabis concealed in the Delhi-bound Tejas Express. The illicit substance was cleverly hidden under the train’s battery box.

This recent operation comes on the heels of another drug-related incident last month, where four Railway Police officers were detained in Karimganj after ganja, amounting to approximately 21 kg, was seized from their possession. Reports indicate that the seized ganja was smuggled from Tripura and intended for transportation to other states. Shockingly, allegations have been raised against the officers, suggesting they were involved in a clandestine business utilizing the seized ganja.

The seizure included at least 20 packets of ganja found in the possession of the four officers, further deepening concerns about drug-related activities within the railway police ranks.

The crackdown on drug trafficking continues to intensify as authorities strive to curb the menace and hold those involved accountable. With such decisive actions, law enforcement sends a stern message that drug smuggling and any corrupt practices will not be tolerated.

As investigations continue, the public demands swift justice and stringent measures to root out drug-related activities from the railway system, ensuring passenger safety and maintaining the integrity of the police force.
