Larson & Toubro Secures Tender for Brahmaputra Bridge; Assam CM Targets 48-Month Completion

Guwahati, 2nd February: In a significant development, Larson & Toubro has been awarded the tender for the proposed bridge over the Brahmaputra River connecting Guwahati with Palasbari, as revealed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press conference.

CM Sarma enthusiastically shared the news, stating, “I want to share good news today. The tender for the Guwahati-Palasbari bridge has been handed over to L&T. They have already received the letter for the same.”

The announcement follows Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s foundation stone-laying ceremony last year during Bihu for the 12.2 km bridge across the Brahmaputra, linking Palasbari and Sualkuchi, poised to invigorate Assam’s heritage textile center.

Taking to social media platform X, CM Sarma emphasized that with Larson & Toubro securing the tender, the government aims to complete the bridge within a period of 48 months.

“I am happy to share that the project has reached a new milestone. Larsen & Toubro has been awarded the contract. We aim to complete construction in 48 months. Connectivity in Assam has received a huge impetus under Hon’ble PM. Between 1947 to 2014, we had only 3 bridges across the Brahmaputra. Today, we have 6 bridges already constructed and 6 more are underway,” stated the Assam CM on X.
