Guwahati, 2 May: Leader of Bir Lachit Sena Shrinkhal Chaliha arrested from his residence. A case was registered against the leader by Manik Chand Kedia on April 28.
Leader Shrinkhal Chaliha was arrested from his residence by the police. Bir Lachit Sena Leader Shrinkhal Chaliha was arrested for demanding donation for socio-cultural event.
A case was registered against Chaliha at the police station last evening. According to FIR, Chaliha had spitted on the face of Manik Chand Kedia, a businessman for not paying additional taxes apart from Bihu donation (Bihu chanda).
The video of the incident had already been submitted to the police station. The police arrested Chaliha on the basis of the case today morning. He was arrested from his home in Sivasagar and taken to the police station.
It may be recalled that the district was already in turmoil over contractor Nirmal Mor who recently thrashed Lakhi Das Panicker, the secretary of AJYCP’s Mahmara region.
Chaliha was placed under house arrest for the threatening incident.
