Ledo Labourers Death: Deceased Persons were Thieves, says Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika

Guwahati: Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika while addressing the state assembly on Monday said that the workers who died in the coal mine in Tinsukia’s Ledo had actually gone there with the intention of stealing.

Hazarika claims that the non-Assamese coal mafias employed the dead labourers.

Hazarika said, “Ledo is home to illegal coal mining. The individuals who attempted to steal at the coal mine lost their lives. In the field, some other people had interred them.”

Congress and AIUDF have both called for an investigation into the entire situation.

It should be noted that a gas leak on Sunday night at a coal mine in Ledo resulted in the deaths of three labourers and serious injuries to numerous others.

The deceased were Sahidul Islam, Hussain Ali and Aasmat Ali. Families of the deceased stated that in an effort to conceal the tragedy, the owner of the coal mine allegedly used a JCB to bury the remains in the middle of the night.
