Leopard Captured After Three Days of Panic in Assam’s Nagaon

Assam: Forest officials in Assam’s Nagaon district successfully tranquilised and captured a leopard that had been creating panic in the town for three days. The feline, first reported on January 1, was spotted prowling through various locations in the area, sparking fear among residents.

The leopard’s movements were captured on CCTV cameras at Daccapatty market on the morning of January 4, prompting locals to alert forest officials. Acting swiftly, the team tranquilised the animal and safely secured it in a cage.

Following a preliminary medical examination, the leopard was transported to the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati for further care. Officials suspect that the leopard may have strayed into the town from one of the nearby forest areas, Bamuni or Chowang.

This operation brought relief to the residents, who had been on edge since the animal was first sighted.
