LeT Terrorist Killed in Encounter in J&K’s Shopian
Guwahati: An encounter that began in the Baskuchan area of Shopian resulted in the death of one terrorist associated with the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on Sunday.
According to ADGP Kashmir, the killed terrorist was identified as Naseer Ahmad Bhat of Nowpora Baskuchan of Shopian, linked with LeT terror outfit. Recovered were incriminating materials, weapons, and ammo, including an AK-47. He recently eluded capture after taking part in many terrorist crimes. The search operation is ongoing, and more information is being gathered.
Terrorists and security personnel got into a fight in Shopian on Sunday, according to the police.
“Encounter has started at Baskuchan area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” tweeted Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Two local terrorists affiliated with the banned terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were killed following an encounter in Baramulla earlier on Friday.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police were informed by information that there were terrorists in the village of Yedipora in the District of Baramulla’s Pattan. Police, the Army, and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jointly started a cordon-and-search operation in the region.
The concealed terrorists opened fire on the security forces randomly as the joint search group neared the suspected location during the search operation. The security forces efficiently replied, resulting in a confrontation.
Police had said in the ensuing encounter, two local terrorists linked with the proscribed terror outfit JeM were killed. They have been identified as Yawar Shafi Bhat, a resident of Kalampora Pulwama and Aamir Hussain Bhat, a resident of Veshro Shopian.
