LGBI Airport Records Footfall of Around 4 Lakh Passengers in February 2023

Guwahati: About 4 lakh passengers passed through the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati in February 2023, a significant rise over the same month in the previous year, an official said on Thursday.

According to the official, of the total, nearly 1,90,000 were arrival travellers and the remaining were departure travellers, which is an increase of 20% from February 2022.

Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore were listed as Guwahati’s top three foreign destinations in the official release. Singapore and Paro are also the two international locations.

Over 1,800 flights passed through the LGBI airport in February 2023, which is a 24 percent increase over February 2022.

“A passenger-centric approach has led to this growth,” it said.

On the other hand, in January 2023, the airport saw record-breaking foot traffic of around 4.50 Lakh passengers.

This volume of traffic demonstrates the post-pandemic recovery of air travel.

“Guwahati Airport is hopeful of consistent growth in the coming summer schedule starting from the month of May. In the summer season, the rise of passengers will be sharpening. Now the airport expects a strong surge during the summer schedule season,” it added.
