Liberia: Fuel Tanker Explosion Claims 40 Lives

International Desk, 28th December: In a tragic incident, a fuel tanker collision led to a devastating explosion in Liberia, West Africa, resulting in the loss of at least 40 lives. The tanker, transporting gasoline, collided and erupted into flames, attracting locals to the scene. Shockingly, some individuals attempted to collect the leaking fuel, leading to numerous fatalities and injuries.

Dozens of people suffered serious burns in the aftermath, prompting concerns that the death toll may rise. Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer, Francis Kateh, confirmed the casualties, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene where people ignored warnings from the tanker driver and climbed atop the truck to siphon gas.

This tragic event sheds light on broader challenges in Liberia’s road safety and infrastructure.
