Guwahati: Amid heavy rains in Assam, two minor girls and a pregnant woman were killed in Udalguri district after being struck by lightning on Monday night.
The incident took place at Alaisri village near Mazbat town.
According to reports, the deceased woman, identified as Manomati Basumatary, was seven-months pregnant.
The identities of the two minor girls were discovered to be Dulal Basumatary and Rekha Basumatary.
Reportedly, the trio was having dinner in a residence when the lightning struck them and they died instantly. The incident also resulted in the deaths of two goats in the area.
It has been discovered that the three of them were neighbours who had scheduled a supper on the fateful evening.
Meanwhile, Mazbat police reached the incident spot and sent the bodies for post mortem.
