Local BJP Leader Arrested in Assam for Alleged Job Scam
Guwahati, 23rd September: In a recent development in Assam’s Hojai district, a local BJP leader has been arrested after a woman accused him of taking Rs 1 lakh from her with the promise of providing a job. The accused, identified as Saurav Choudhury, was associated with the BJP Yuva Morcha and had recently been appointed as the president of the Dhal Pukhuri Mandal Block.
According to the woman, named Jahanara Begum, Choudhury had assured her a job at a primary school in the Dhal Pukhuri area. She claimed that he even provided her with an appointment letter. However, when she arrived at the school to begin her job, she discovered that the letter was forged.
Choudhury allegedly demanded the money upfront, claiming to have connections with high-ranking ministers in the state. He assured the woman that he would take the money only after securing her the job.
The police have arrested Choudhury and initiated an investigation into the matter. They are also verifying the woman’s statement and looking into the alleged bribery aspect of the case.
