Locals In Tezpur Catch Fake Cop, Hand Him Over To Police
Guwahati: One person was arrested in Tezpur of Assam on Saturday for reportedly pretending to be a police officer.
According to reports, the person carried a fake pistol and pretended to be a police sub-inspector. He was identified as Himangshu Kalita of Tezpur.
According to officials, Kalita was apprehended by villagers in the Mission Chariali area of Tezpur while pretending to be a police officer and turned over to Tezpur Police.
The accused allegedly attempted to defraud a man named Bhaskar Baruah of Assam’s Charaideo by promising him a job in exchange for money.
Meanwhile, upon his detention, the police revealed that Himangshu Kalita lived in Tezpur’s Bihaguri and was a resident of Kalita Village No. 2.
Further legal proceedings against the accused have been initiated as per the law, informed Tezpur Police.
