Lok Sabha Speaker Accepts No-Confidence Motion by I.N.D.I.A Alliance; House Resumes Functioning Amid Political Debate
National Desk, 26th July: Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, made a major decision on Wednesday by accepting the no-confidence motion against the government, which was moved by the Opposition I.N.D.I.A alliance. The motion was presented by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on behalf of the alliance.
Following Gogoi’s motion, the Speaker inquired about the number of members supporting the motion and subsequently admitted it. The exact time for the debate on the motion will be decided later.
With the acceptance of the no-confidence motion, the House resumed its normal functioning. Opposition members seized the opportunity to express their opinions on the bills being introduced by the government.
Additionally, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which holds nine seats in Lok Sabha, also submitted a notice for a no-confidence motion against the government.
Commenting on the situation, CPI MP Binoy Viswam stated, “This No Confidence Motion is a political action with a political goal – a political action that will produce results…The No Confidence Motion will force him (the Prime Minister) to appear before Parliament. We need a debate in Parliament about the issues facing the country, particularly Manipur. Forget the numbers; they know them, and we know them…” highlighting the significance and purpose of the motion.
The acceptance of the no-confidence motion sets the stage for crucial political discussions and debates within the Parliament, with the Opposition seeking a robust dialogue on important national issues. The coming days are poised to witness intense political deliberations as the government responds to the motion and addresses the concerns raised by the Opposition and various alliances.
