Lovlina Borgohain’s Coach Sandhya Gurung Gets Accreditation for CWG 2022
Guwahati: The accreditation for the Commonwealth Games 2022 was given to Sandhya Gurung, the personal coach of ace fighter Lovlina Borgohain on Tuesday.
The Olympic bronze medalist had already claimed that her trainers were “continually harassing” her while she trained for the next competition.
Just days before the tournament, Gurung—who also serves as the Indian team’s assistant coach—was included in the Indian delegation.
Gurung was unable to enter the Games Village when she arrived in Birmingham on Monday because she lacked an accreditation.
“This morning, Sandhya was transported to the boxing village and granted authorization. She is now in the team, according to an official of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
Gurung has been given a room in the Games village as well.
Lovlina, who won a bronze medal at the Olympics last year, gives Gurung credit for rescuing her before the Tokyo Games from a challenging emotional state. Gurung was with Lovlina during the 15-day CWG preparation camp in Ireland.
