Guwahati: The Assam government is all set to felicitate the Olympics winner Lovlina Borgohain upon her arrival on August 12.
Lovlina Borgohain secured a bronze medal in the 69kg women’s welterweight category in boxing at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Borgohain has been the first Assamese athlete who has brought home an Olympics medal for the country.
Lovlina will reach Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Borjhar at around 9 am on August 12 and a felicitation program for her has been organized at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare.
Prior to this Assam government had also announced a cash reward of Rs 50 lakh to the bronze medal winner under the Assam Sports Integrated Policy.
