Guwahati, 10th September: In yet another concerning incident, a luxury car plunged into a roadside drain dug by Purba Bharati Gas Limited in Guwahati’s Geetanagar area on Sunday.
Sources indicate that this mishap occurred near Geeta Mandir, where a vehicle with the registration number AS01 EP 8700 fell into a roadside drain dug for the installation of a gas pipeline.
Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries resulting from the incident at this time.
It is worth noting that this is not the first such occurrence in the city, where drains dug for various purposes, including water pipeline installation and power grid work, have raised safety concerns.
Just a month ago, a vehicle became stuck in a drain dug for water pipeline installation in the Silpukhuri area. Reports suggest that the vehicle remained stranded in the drain for several hours until police were able to facilitate its rescue.
As such incidents continue to raise safety questions, local authorities may need to reassess and enhance safety measures surrounding these construction and maintenance activities.
