Maharashtra: Two Women Arrested for Poisoning to Death Five Family Members
National Desk, 19th October: A disturbing case has emerged in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, where five family members tragically lost their lives within a short span of 20 days under mysterious circumstances. Investigations into these untimely deaths have uncovered a chilling murder plot masterminded by two women from within the same family, who were subsequently arrested.
The suspects, identified as Sanghamitra and Rosa, had disturbing motives. Sanghamitra’s discontent with her husband and in-laws and Rosa’s anger related to a property dispute fueled their sinister plan.
The means they employed to execute this horrendous act were equally unsettling, as they used arsenic, a lethal heavy metal that is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.
The story unfolds with Shankar Kumbhare and his wife, Vijaya, who began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning on September 20. Their health deteriorated rapidly, and they endured physical agony, ultimately leading to heart difficulties as a result of the slow poisoning. The couple was first admitted to a local hospital in Aheri, then transferred to Chandrapur and finally to a hospital in Nagpur. Tragically, Shankar Kumbhare passed away on September 26, and his wife succumbed the following day.
As the family was still reeling from their losses, their children, Komal Dahagaokar and Ananda, and Roshan Kumbhare, were also hospitalized. Their conditions continued to worsen, and one by one, they lost their lives: Komal on October 8, Ananda on October 14, and Roshan Kumbhare the day after.
The reason for this horrible deed was revealed by Superintendent of Police Neelotpal, who stated, “We closely monitored Sanghamitra, who was Roshan Kumbhare’s wife and Shankar Kumbhare’s daughter-in-law, throughout the investigation.” Against the wishes of her parents, Sanghamitra had married Roshan. Her father committed suicide a few months ago, and she has been distraught ever since. To make matters worse, she wanted to get rid of her in-laws and husband because they constantly taunted her.
