Mahatma Gandhi’s Statue Vandalised in Punjab’s Bathinda

Guwahati: Unknown miscreants vandalised a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Bathinda of Punjab.

The incident took place in a Rama Mandi public park on the night between Thursday and Friday. The park is located adjacent to the local body office in Rama Mandi, which is around 30 kilometres from Bathinda city.

The vandalised statue of the Mahatma was discovered on the park’s grass on Friday morning, which is when the public first learned about the incident, according to the police. The statue’s head was absent.

The matter is being looked into after a case was filed.

This incident occurred just a few days after a Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Canadian province of Ontario was vandalised. According to reports, the monument at Vishnu Mandir near Yonge Street and Garden Avenue was vandalised.

Ministers in Canada have denounced the destruction of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and the incident is being looked into by local law enforcement as a possible “hate-motivated incident.”
