Major Drug Supplier Nabbed in Joint Arunachal-Assam Police Operation
Itanagar: In a significant stride against drug trafficking, the Naharlagun Police of Arunachal Pradesh, working in tandem with the Assam Police, have successfully apprehended the primary supplier implicated in a current case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Naharlagun Police Station. This crucial arrest marks a substantial achievement for Operation Dawn 2.0.
The meticulously planned operation, executed with the support of the Assam Police, was conducted under the stringent oversight of Superintendent of Police Naharlagun, Mihin Gambo, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo. The decisive raid targeted the residence of the suspected drug kingpin, located in Brahmaputra Nagar, a locality situated near the banks of Assam’s Dikrong River.
During the swift and targeted operation, law enforcement officials successfully detained one Aamir Ali, a 39-year-old male residing in Banderdewa, Assam, son of Matlab Ali. Upon searching his premises, the joint police team recovered a total of 20 vials containing a substance believed to be heroin, with an approximate weight of 27.9 grams.
The breakthrough arrest was made on April 28th, stemming from critical information unearthed during the interrogation of individuals previously taken into custody in connection with the same NDPS case. The dedicated joint police team that executed the raid was spearheaded by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, the Officer-in-Charge of PS Naharlagun, and included the valuable contributions of SI Vivek Linggi, SI T Sarke, ASI I Ngomdir, HC K Mosi, HC L Tsering, Ct D Borah, HC P Tari, Ct R Kalung, Ct T Dawa, Ct Sanu T Raj, Ct T Pertin, and Ct H Tamin.
This successful operation follows the arrest of two individuals identified as Techi Lez and Tana Jamja on April 27th, who were also implicated as co-accused in the same drug trafficking network.
The Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) Naharlagun Police have reiterated their unwavering dedication to combating the menace of drug trafficking and safeguarding the youth of the region from the devastating impact of narcotics. This latest apprehension underscores their ongoing commitment and relentless efforts under the banner of Operation Dawn 2.0.
