Guwahati: A massive fire broke out inside the premises of the Shiv temple at Barpeta during the day on Sunday
According to reports, the fire took place in the temple’s area where prasad (offerings) were being prepared to be offered to the presiding god.
A cylinder burst has reportedly caused the fire in the temple.
Locals and temple employees alerted the local fire department, which dispatched a few firefighters to the spot.
It needs to be noted that with the help of villagers, firefighters were able to get the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading to the temple and other neighbouring structures.
