Major General Jarken Gamlin (Retd) Sworn In as Chief Information Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh
Northeast Desk, 2nd September: Major General Jarken Gamlin (Retd) has officially taken office as the new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Arunachal Pradesh. The oath of office was administered by Governor Lt. Gen. KT Parnaik (Retd) on September 2, marking the beginning of Gamlin’s tenure.
Gamlin, a highly respected retired Army officer, succeeds Rinchin Dorjee, whose term concluded on August 12. As CIC, Gamlin will serve for a period of three years or until he reaches the age of 65, whichever comes first.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his congratulations to Gamlin, commending his leadership qualities and vision. The appointment of Major General Gamlin is anticipated to enhance the functioning of the Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission, bringing in a wealth of experience and military discipline to the role.
In October 2022, Major General Gamlin, along with Major General Bisht (Retd.), resigned from their positions as members of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). Their resignations were submitted to the Governor, alongside another APPSC member, Mepug Tadar Bage.
The leadership and commitment Gamlin demonstrated during his military service are expected to contribute significantly to his new role as Chief Information Commissioner, fostering transparency and accountability within the state’s information governance framework.
