Major Heroin Worth Rs 3 Crore Seized by Assam Police

Guwahati, 5th May: In a coordinated effort by Golaghat and Sivasagar police, a significant consignment of heroin was intercepted while being smuggled from a neighboring state. The seized narcotics, weighing a staggering 585 grams, carry an estimated value of Rs 3 crore in the illegal market.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the successful operation, attributing it to the prompt action taken by the police teams based on reliable intelligence inputs. Four individuals and two vehicles involved in the drug trafficking were apprehended during the operation.

In a tweet acknowledging the efforts of the Assam Police, Chief Minister Sarma commended their dedication in combating the drug menace with the hashtag #AssamAgainstDrugs.

This operation underscores the relentless efforts of authorities in Assam to curb the drug trade, signaling a resolute stance against illicit activities and a commitment to safeguarding the well-being of the state’s citizens.
