Major Liquor Smuggling Bust in Assam’s Bokajan

Bokajan, Assam: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trade, Bokajan police successfully intercepted a truck laden with over 300 cartons of illicit liquor in the Khatkhati area.

The seized liquor, estimated to be worth more than Rs 10 lakh, was being smuggled towards Dimapur in Nagaland.

The truck was apprehended near Gautambasti, where authorities arrested the driver, identified as Raj Khan. The police are currently delving deeper into the case to uncover the network behind this illicit operation.

In addition to the truck seizure and driver’s arrest, the police have detained Subodh, a liquor dealer from Khatkhati, and another individual from Sivasagar. These arrests are part of the ongoing investigation into the extensive liquor smuggling racket that operates in the region.

It is believed that the smuggled liquor was destined for the black market in Nagaland, where alcohol consumption is prohibited. The successful operation by the Bokajan police underscores their commitment to combating illegal activities and ensuring public safety.
