Major Northeast India Rail Disruption After Landslides Near Jatinga Lampur

Guwahati: Train services across parts of Northeast India have been significantly hampered following a series of landslides in the vicinity of Jatinga Lampur railway station, leading to outright cancellations and partial operations for several crucial long-distance trains.

Railway officials have confirmed that continuous deposition of debris, including substantial boulders and mud, throughout the night has rendered the railway track highly unsafe for operations in the affected stretch.

In light of the precarious situation, Northeast Frontier Railway has proactively announced the cancellation of multiple train services slated for June 24th.

The affected train services include the full cancellation of Train No. 12504 Agartala – SMVB (Bengaluru) Express and Train No. 14037 Silchar – New Delhi Express.

Furthermore, Train No. 13174 Sabroom – Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express will not operate between Sabroom and Lumding, though it is scheduled to run as planned from Lumding to Sealdah.

Restoration work is currently in full swing, with engineering teams on-site, diligently working to clear the accumulated debris and thoroughly assess the safety of the tracks. Authorities have strongly advised passengers to verify the latest updates before embarking on their journeys and to extend their full cooperation to railway staff amidst these disruptions.
