Major Reshuffle in Assam Administration: Laya Madduri Relieved, Multiple Transfers Announced

Guwahati: In a significant bureaucratic move, Laya Madduri, a 2010-batch IAS officer, has been relieved from the Assam Government and placed at the disposal of the Government of India.

She will assume the role of Director in the Department of Economic Affairs, Delhi, upon completing formal handover procedures in Assam.

Madduri was serving as the Secretary to the Government of Assam, Finance Department, and held the additional charge of Managing Director, Assam Financial Corporation. Her transfer highlights Assam’s growing contribution to national policymaking and underscores the state government’s emphasis on dynamic leadership and efficient governance.

The reshuffle also involves multiple transfers of ACS officers across various districts. Key Transfers:

  • Ananta Kumar Gogoi: Moved from CEO, Zilla Parishad, Golaghat, to CEO, Zilla Parishad, Morigaon.
  • Ditimoni Pegu: Transferred from CEO, Zilla Parishad, Majuli, to Joint Secretary, Labour Welfare Department.
  • Bipul Kumar Das: Reassigned from CEO, Zilla Parishad, Jorhat, to CEO, Zilla Parishad, Golaghat.
  • Sanjib Kumar Borah: Now posted as CEO, Zilla Parishad, Majuli, with additional charge as Registrar, Majuli University of Culture.

Other transfers include Garga Mohan Das to Additional District Commissioner, Kamrup; Priyanshu Bharadwaj to Additional District Commissioner, Kamrup; and Oswin Nampui to Deputy Secretary, Tribal Affairs (P) Department. The reshuffle aims to streamline administrative processes, improve public service delivery, and ensure seamless coordination between state and central government agencies.
