Major Tragedy Averted as Fire Breaks Out on Tripura Sundari Express
Guwahati, 24th July: A significant mishap on Wednesday was narrowly avoided when a fire erupted in one of the coaches of the Tripura Sundari Express as it approached Lumding Junction in Assam.
The incident occurred in coach number 189/7 of the Firozpur-Agartala train, which was in transit from Firozpur to Agartala. The fire, caused by a technical malfunction, broke out approximately 1,400 meters before the train entered the station.
Swift intervention by railway authorities and a dedicated firefighting team contained the blaze, preventing injuries among the passengers. The quick response helped to calm the situation and minimize panic among travelers. Passengers, some of whom attempted to extinguish the flames with water, were reassured by the prompt actions of the security personnel and the railway staff.
Repair work is currently underway at Lumding Junction, where the train remains halted. Railway personnel reported that the fire originated from a wheel of the train and emphasized the effectiveness of the emergency response in averting a potential disaster.
