Mamata Banerjee Announces Cabinet Reshuffle after Minister’s Sacking
Guwahati: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared on Monday that the state’s Cabinet would be reshuffled on Wednesday, with 4-5 new faces.
“On Wednesday, there will be a lineup change. There will be four to five new faces “Mamata stated.
Former state education minister Partha Chatterjee was detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the SSC recruitment fraud.
Chatterjee was minister-in-charge of the departments of industry, commerce and enterprises, IT and electronics, parliamentary affairs and public enterprises, and industrial reconstruction.
After his incarceration, CM Banerjee assumed control of four of Partha Chatterjee’s departments in addition to the 11 others for which she is currently responsible.
“Many of them are prolific writers. We don’t intend to disband the current ministry completely and start anew. Yes, there will be a change of personnel. Sadhan Pande and Subrata Mukherjee were lost as ministers. All of their job must be completed because Partha da is in prison. Not something I could handle by myself, “Bengal CM was added.
Further, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal resolved to divide the existing 23 districts into seven new ones by delineating their boundaries in order to improve local administration and development.
The seven new districts are Sunderban, Ichhamati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur and Basirhat.
“There used to be 23 districts in Bengal, but there are currently 30. Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur, and one more district would be named in Basirhat are among the seven new districts ” said West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.
