Mamata Banerjee arrives on a 2-day visit to Meghalaya
Guwahati: West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee arrived in Shillong of Meghalaya on Monday to discuss strategies with party leaders.
Upon arrival at Umroi Airport, she was welcomed by her supporters and admirers from across the state including the party’s state leader Dr Mukul Sangma.
Ms. Mamata Banerjee was accompanied by AITC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
Leaders of the Meghalaya Trinamool Congress will accompany Mamata Banerjee as she will be attending a number of engagements during the course of her two-day tour.
She will preside over a Party Workers’ Convention on December 13 at the U Soso Tham Auditorium in this city alongside important TMC state leaders, delegates from every district and block committee of the party, and members of the women’s, youth, and student fronts of the party.
In the evening tomorrow, she will join pre-Christmas festivities at the Windermere Resort in Umpling with kids from several orphanages, tribal chiefs from the Khasi and Jaintia Hills, illustrious members of the civil society, and important figures from Meghalaya headquartered in Shillong.
On her arrival at the Umroi airport, Trinamool Congress Legislature Party Leader and Leader of the Opposition in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Dr. Mukul Sangma said, “We’re very happy that the AITC Chairperson is here on her first ever visit to the state. All the foot soldiers from the party from nook and corners of the state have got their chance to meet the party Chairperson. They will have an opportunity to have an audience with her in the meeting.”
