Mamata wins Bhabanipur by-polls
Guwahati: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee booked a record win over her Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) rival Priyanka Tibrewal in the Bhabanipur by-poll in West Bengal.
Banerjee won by a margin of more than 58000 votes.
Mamata was required to win this particular seat in order to get elected to the assembly so that she could retain the CM’s chair, as earlier in this year Banerjee had lost the assembly elections from Nandigram.
Greeting the supporters over the win, Mamata said that she had won the Bhabanipur Assembly by-polls with a margin of 58832 votes and registered the victory in every ward of the constituency. She also thanked all the voters for the win.
Mamata further added that this is for the first time that TMC had not lost in a single ward in Bhabanipur.
It may be mentioned that Banerjee secured a total of 84709 while her rival Priyanka Tibrewal got only 26320 votes in the Bhabanipur Assembly seat in South Kolkata.
