Guwahati, 18th March: In a significant development, Chandmari police have apprehended Hamidul Islam following accusations of love jihad and financial deceit. The arrest comes in response to a complaint filed by a young woman against Hamidul, alleging various offenses.
According to reports, Hamidul is accused of initiating a romantic relationship with the young woman under the false pretense of being a Hindu youth. Exploiting this fabricated identity, he allegedly defrauded her of a substantial sum totaling Rs 12 lakh through deceptive means.
Furthermore, the allegations suggest that Hamidul engaged in a physical relationship with the young woman, coercing her into multiple abortions against her will, with the count reaching five instances.
The arrest of Hamidul Islam occurred in the Christian Basti area following the filing of a police complaint by the young woman. The Chandmari police have responded swiftly to the serious allegations, recognizing the gravity of the situation.
