Man Arrested for Child Marriage; 15-Year-Old Girl and Infant Son Rescued in Hailakandi

Guwahati, July 27th: Hailakandi police have detained a guy involved in a heartbreaking instance of child marriage, resulting in the rescue of a 15-year-old girl and a newborn thought to be their son.

Acting on credible intelligence inputs, a special team of police conducted a well-executed operation and arrested the accused man from his residence in Vichingcha village.

Zakir Hussain, the accused guy, apparently married the minor girl when she was only 12 years old.

Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Zakir Hussain, and further investigations are underway.

The prompt action by the Hailakandi police has not only ensured the rescue of the young girl and her infant child but also sends a strong message against such unlawful practices in society. Child marriage remains a serious concern, and law enforcement agencies are determined to combat it and safeguard the rights and well-being of vulnerable minors.
