Man arrested for derogatory comments on Maa Kamakhya Temple
Guwahati: A man was arrested by Guwahati Police over his derogatory remarks on Goddess Maa Kamakhya on Saturday.
The accused identified as Bitupan Gogoi who is a resident of Golaghat district of Assam.
Gogoi was arrested by a team of West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) with assistance from Golaghat police.
Meanwhile, a case No 172/22 under section 153(a)/295(a)/505(1)(C)(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against him.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Guwahati Police wrote, “A WGPD team from Jalukbari PS with assistance from @GolaghatPolicearrested one Bitupan Gogoi of Golaghat for his derogatory remarks on Maa Kamakhya. Legal action has been initiated and Case No 172/22 I/s 253(a)/295(a)/505(1)(C)(2) IPC registered.”
