Man arrested for issuing fake Covid-19 negative reports in Nagaland

Guwahati: A person has been arrested in the Dimapur district of Nagaland for allegedly issuing COVID-19 test reports to passengers traveling to Manipur from the Blue Hill Bus Station region.

The arrested has been identified as Mohammad Samsung.

According to reports, he demanded a payment of Rs 500 per individual and promised to arrange phony COVID-19 test reports within an hour.

According to a press release by Dimapur DCP (Crime) and PRO, the police team, acting on specific information, disguised themselves as passengers in need of a negative COVID-19 test report. Samung who works for IMA Travels (Dimapur to Imphal) offered to arrange it on a payment basis.

Meanwhile, he was arrested and a complaint was filed under the Disaster Management Act of 2005.

It may be mentioned that he used to collect Aadhar cards and money from passengers. Then he would go to Lahorijan in Karbi Anglong district of Assam bordering Dimapur and pay a commission to test center workers stationed there, arranging for a bogus Covid-19 test report without the travelers being physically tested.

However, the case is currently being investigated.
