Man Arrested for Kidnapping Woman in Arunachal Pradesh, Rescued in Bihar

Guwahati, 26th May: In a coordinated effort between Naharlagun Police in Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar Police, a 25-year-old man was apprehended for kidnapping a woman, who was successfully rescued from Bihar’s Mirzapur village.

According to Naharlagun Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo, the accused, identified as Pintu Rai, was captured by a special police team on May 22. The arrest came after a case was registered at Naharlagun Police Station under Sections 365 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Initiating prompt investigation under SI B P Singh, it was revealed that the victim, a 25-year-old woman, was deceitfully lured by the accused to Bihar under false pretenses.

SP Gambo stated that the accused was traced to Mirzapur, Bihar, using a combination of technical and traditional methods. He was then presented before the judicial magistrate first-class in Hajipur, Bihar, where a three-day transit remand was granted for further proceedings in Yupia court.

Subsequently, the accused appeared before the judicial magistrate first-class in Yupia on May 25 and was remanded to three-day police custody for further investigation.

Following her rescue, the woman underwent a comprehensive medical examination and was reunited with her biological mother in good health.
