Man charred to death after cylinder explodes in car

Guwahati: A man was charred to death after a gas cylinder attached to the car he was sitting in exploded at Coimbatore’s Ukkadam on Sunday.

The man is yet to be identified, the police said.

The incident took place close to Kottai Easwaran Temple.

Police have been stationed nearby to stop any unwelcome situations.

Security measures have been put in place because the region is allegedly sensitive in the community, and the case is currently under investigation.

Senior officers have visited the scene and are also looking into the situation.

The police are gathering evidence to determine the precise cause of the explosion.

However, initial investigations indicate that the car apparently passed through a speed breaker at a high speed, which is what caused the gas escape from the cylinder.
