Man dies in floodwaters at Assam’s Morigaon
Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a man has drowned in fast-flowing floodwaters in Morigaon district of Assam on Tuesday.
The incident took place at Besamari in Mayong of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Dipu Bordoloi. He was around 32-years-old.
According to reports, the tragedy occurred today morning at 8 am when Dipu and a few other individuals arrived for some nearby lake fishing.
Reportedly, Dipu spent almost an hour fishing before taking a short break beside a culvert. He vanished after accidentally falling into a large pit close to the culvert.
Meanwhile, the Morigaon district administration, along with the police and personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) arrived at the spot after being informed about the incident.
The body of the individual was recovered after an hour-long search operation led by the authorities and villagers.
It may be mentioned that the body has been sent to the Morigaon Civil Hospital for a post-mortem report.
