Guwahati: A man was allegedly killed due to electrocution in the Geetanagar area of Guwahati on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Madan Rai who is a resident of Golokganj in Dhubri district of Assam.
According to reports, Rai was on his way home when he was electrocuted by a broken electric line on the road near Geeta Mandir in the Amar Path.
Local residents of the area rushed him to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he died as a result of his injuries.
Following the incident, locals claimed that despite several attempts to contact officials from the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) they have received no response.
It needs to be mentioned that Rai was a rickshaw driver and the family’s primary breadwinner.
