Man from Arunachal Pradesh Kills Dog with Machete, Sparks Outrage
Northeast Desk, 17th May: In a disturbing incident, a man from Arunachal Pradesh killed a dog using a machete, an act reportedly fueled by rumors of a canine menace.
A video of the brutal act, which took place at Nirjuli outside Anya colony, has gone viral on social media, prompting widespread condemnation. The unidentified man was seen attacking the dog with a machete, reacting to false reports about stray dogs attacking people around the capital region.
The Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Itanagar reported that 117 dog bite cases were recorded within the past week, according to the District Medical Officer of the Itanagar Capital Complex in Naharlagun. The surge in incidents has highlighted the issue of unvaccinated stray dogs in the area.
In response to the situation, the Deputy Commissioner issued a public advisory addressing the spike in dog bite cases and the presence of unvaccinated stray dogs. The advisory included several directives aimed at controlling the increase in dog bites within the Capital Complex.
“It has been brought to the notice of the undersigned that the incidents of dog bite cases in the twin capital city have seen a steep surge over the past week,” stated the DC. “A total of 117 cases of dog bites have been reported within the past week. It has also been observed that there is a large number of unvaccinated stray dogs in the entire jurisdiction of Capital Complex, Itanagar.”
The advisory urged residents to follow specific measures to mitigate the rise in dog bite cases and ensure public safety.
