Agartala: A tragic incident unfolded in West Tripura district as a man allegedly hacked his wife and mother-in-law to death following a dispute over a social media post, police reported on October 13. The accused, a 51-year-old poultry farmer from Madhupur in Sepahijala district, has been arrested in connection with the murders.
According to the authorities, the man had been living with his two sons in Madhupur, while his wife had filed for divorce and had been residing with her mother in the ONGC area of West Tripura for the past one-and-a-half years.
West Tripura Superintendent of Police, Kiran Kumar K, informed reporters that the incident occurred after the man’s wife uploaded photographs with two male friends during the Durga Puja festivities. “Seeing the photographs, the husband became enraged and hatched a plan to eliminate her,” the SP said.
