Man Injured in Train Accident, Alleged Delay in Rescue Raises Concerns

Guwahati, 23rd July: In a tragic incident on Saturday night, a man was found lying on a railway line in Guwahati’s Jalukbari area, with severe injuries after being hit by a train. The incident occurred near Katia Bridge in Jalukbari and has raised concerns over the delay in rescue operations.

The injured man has been identified as Rajiv Dev, a resident of Joymati Nagar in Pandu. According to sources, the police were informed about the incident and reached the scene. However, shocking allegations suggest that the police did not take immediate action to rescue the injured man. Instead, they purportedly asked his family members, who had also rushed to the spot, to remove him from the tracks.

Reports indicate that the police left the scene without waiting for the arrival of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) or the Government Railway Police (GRP), leaving the injured man unattended.

It was only after a considerable delay that the RPF team, which was stationed nearby, arrived at the scene. However, even their response was allegedly lacking urgency in shifting the injured man to a hospital for medical attention.

Ultimately, it was the man’s family members, with the assistance of some locals, who managed to transport him to a nearby hospital. The victim’s condition is reported to be critical, and he is currently undergoing treatment.

Authorities suspect that the man may have been attempting to cross the tracks when he was tragically struck by a passing train. However, further investigations will be required to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.

This incident has sparked concern among the public about the need for swift and efficient rescue operations during such emergencies. The delay in response by the police and the allegedly sluggish approach of the RPF have raised questions about the protocols in place for handling railway accidents and providing timely assistance to victims.
