Man Jumps Into Brahmaputra From Ferry In Nimati Ghat

Guwahati: A man allegedly attempted to commit suicide in front of passengers by jumping into the Brahmaputra River of Assam from a ferry on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 9:30 in the morning.

The man has been identified as Saru Dutta who is a resident of Gurmukh of Majuli district.

The ferry ‘RPL Digaru’ was moving towards Kamalabari from Nimati Ghat when the accident took place.

According to reports, Dutta was saved by the rescuers.

However, after being rescued, he attempted to flee from the police.

Meanwhile, the victim was sent to the hospital for treatment.

It needs to be noted that the reason behind taking the drastic step is yet to be ascertained.

The cause of the occurrence has yet to be determined.
