Man Set Himself on Fire in Front of Nepal Parliament Passes Away
Guwahati: A 37-year-old man who had set himself on fire in front of Nepal’s Parliament on Tuesday had passed away due to his burn injuries, doctors from the hospital where he was being treated announced on Wednesday.
A businessman from the Illam District, Prem Prasad Acharya lit himself on fire as the cavalcade of the nation’s newly elected Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was leaving the parliament on Tuesday afternoon.
“He succumbed to the burn-inflicted injuries. He had suffered 80 percent burns,” Dr Kiran Nakarmi said.
In Nepal, a video that has been making the rounds on social media shows onlookers attempting to put out the fire after the man lit himself on fire. The man was taken urgently to the Skin Burn Hospital in Kirtipur after the fire was extinguished.
Prem Prasad Acharya used his social media sites to post about the long-term financial and emotional collapse he was experiencing. He wrote a lengthy message that was extensively circulated on social media, in which he discussed his desire to end his life.
The businessman claimed that his circumstances were constantly adverse which led him to adopt such drastic measures. He added that he had previously tried numerous times but been unsuccessful. The administration hasn’t reacted to the occurrence.
The government has not released any information regarding the occurrence.
