Mandatory Compliance: IPS Officers Directed to Submit Immovable Property Return by January 31 next year

National Desk, 17th December: The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a crucial directive, instructing all Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the nation to submit their Immovable Property Return (IPR) for the year 2023 by January 31, 2023.

This directive was communicated through a written note dispatched earlier this week to the Chief Secretaries and the Director General of Police (DGP) of all state governments and Union Territories (UTs).

The note emphasized the necessity of filing the Immovable Property Return online for the year 2023, directing officers to use either https://ips.gov.in or https://sparrow-ips.eoffice.gov.in. The submission should be made using the existing nic-e-Mail ID and password.

Titled ‘Online filing of Immovable Property Return (IPR-2023) by IPS officers’, the note, issued on December 11, reminded officers of Rule 16 (2) of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules 1968. This rule mandates that every IPS officer must submit their Immovable Property Return (IPR) in the prescribed form by January 31 each year for the previous year ending December 31.

To facilitate the process, the note referenced a ‘User Manual’ available on the SPARROW (Smart Performance Appraisal Report Recording) welcome page, providing necessary guidance for officers filling up the online IPR. Time is of the essence as officers are urged to comply with this crucial submission requirement.
