Mangaldai Bypass to Be Completed by 2025, Announces Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
Guwahati, 20th June: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Mangaldai bypass is expected to be completed by 2025. Speaking at a recent event, Sarma emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in the region.
“The speed at which the construction should be carried out is not happening. Our target is to complete the Mangaldai bypass by 2025,” said Sarma. The bypass aims to alleviate traffic congestion and stimulate economic development in Mangaldai.
The project, valued at Rs 341 crore, has been funded by the Central government, with approximately Rs 95 crore already disbursed for land acquisition.
The foundation for seven major road projects, including the NH 15 Mangaldai bypass, was digitally laid at a public function held at Mangaldai College Playground. These projects, worth over Rs 1,000 crore, were inaugurated virtually by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari from New Delhi, in the presence of Chief Minister Sarma.
Union Minister Gadkari praised Assam’s rapid development under Sarma’s leadership, highlighting the extensive road projects executed in Assam and the Northeast since 2014 under Prime Minister Modi’s directives. Gadkari revealed plans for an additional investment of 1.5 lakh crore in new road projects over the coming years.
During his visit, Chief Minister Sarma also inspected the site allocated for the proposed Darrang Medical College, underscoring the government’s focus on improving infrastructure and healthcare in the region.
