Manik Saha Likely to Take Oath as Tripura CM
Guwahati: Manik Saha is set to take oath for a second term as chief minister of Tripura. The swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place on March 8.
Speaking to reporters today after submitting his resignation to Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated, “Most likely, provisionally on March 8 the oath-taking ceremony. But, he was asked to stay in his position until the new administration is sworn in.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha defeated Congress candidate Asish Kumar Saha with 19,586 votes in the 8-Town Bordowali Assembly Seat.
According to CM Dr. Saha, the new government’s oath-taking ceremony will take place on March 8 but the exact time may change.
“I came here to meet the Governor of Tripura to tender my resignation and he has accepted it. But he has given me the responsibility to run the office as the Chief Minister till the new government form”, said the CM.
He said, “On 8th March the oat-taking ceremony will be held and the schedule may change or may not change. We have our majority and the result was very good and thanks to the people of Tripura”.
Though the party didn’t confirm any name for the post of Chief Minister the poll campaign suggested Saha would be retained in the post of Chief Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s poll rallies called for a second term for the “Modi-Manik Saha sarkar”.
