Manipur: 2-day closure of OPD Services By Manipur Doctors

Guwahati: The All Manipur Health Services Doctors Association (AMHSDA) has requested that OPD services be shut down for two days beginning on December 27 and thereafter remain closed indefinitely due to many demands, including the expansion of the superannuation age to 65 years.

The decision to close health services, including OPDs, was decided following a joint meeting of AMHSDA officials, CMOs, and their doctors and nurses in Bishnupur and Thoubal.

According to an AMHSDA statement, they are simply demanding their basic and fundamental rights for time bound/scale promotion, superannuation age extension to 65 years, NPA fixation with effect from January 1, 2016 as per the 7th CPC, and amendment to the outdated Manipur Health Services Rules 1982.

It claimed that they had whittled down their charter of demands to only four in response to a request from the government.

The government has allegedly been ignoring their pleas for close to two years but according to the group.

According to the article, MCS and MPS officers receive promotions every four years, whereas MHS doctors do not receive any promotions despite working for three decades.
