Manipur: Alleged IED Blast Rocks Village in Jiribam District
Northeast Desk, 29th March: A village in the Jiribam district of Manipur was shaken by an alleged blast from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), causing significant damage to a shop but fortunately resulting in no casualties.
The explosion occurred in Durgapur village, Borobekra Sub Division, early this morning, targeting a shop owned by H. Manikumar Singh. The suspected IED bomb, planted by unknown miscreants, detonated outside Singh’s shop at around 2:20 am local time.
This incident follows a previous attack on the same shop, where miscreants fired shots at its shuttered windows, indicating a pattern of targeted violence.
Authorities from the Borobekra Police Station swiftly responded to the scene, launching an investigation into the incident and registering a case. Located approximately 30 kilometers from the district headquarters, Jiribam, the blast site has raised concerns among local residents about security in the area.
