Manipur: Ambush Targets Advance Security Team Ahead of Chief Minister’s Visit to Jiribam
Northeast Desk, 10th June: An advance security team, entrusted with ensuring the safety of Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s upcoming visit to Jiribam, faced an ambush by suspected armed militants near T Laijang, close to Kotlen on NH 37 Jiribam road around 10:30 am on June 10.
Initial reports confirm that one security personnel sustained injuries during the ambush. In response, a joint operation involving police commandos and Assam Rifles is currently underway to track down the perpetrators and secure the area.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh, slated to visit Jiribam tomorrow, had dispatched the advance team earlier today to assess the safety and security situation in the region. However, their journey was abruptly halted by the ambush near Kotlen along National Highway 37.
The incident underscores the volatile security landscape in the region, prompting heightened vigilance and swift action from law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of all personnel involved in the Chief Minister’s visit.
